CHEVAL STABLES OPEN HORSESHOW SERIES (SEPTEMBER 23)
by Marylou A. Yuskiewicz

Cheval Stables had an
incredible 2007 Open Show Series…..could not ask for better
weather…sunshine & warm every show….WOW……amazing in Upstate New York!

Cheval is located in Marion,
New York…and since this year’s series was so successful they are already
planning for 2008……..new classes……new judges…….we hope you can be with
us…now onto the show tidbits.

Our judges again were wonderfully talented and they were: Bill
Skellett (June 27); Jim Maroney (August 12) and Wendi
Snook-Casper (Sept 23). As anyone knows your show staff can make or
break you…..at Cheval they are worth a *million bucks*. They are:
David/Toni Poormon (Owners); Pat Hutchinson (Hi-Score &
Entries); Karen Gerrish (Entries); ML Yuskiewicz
(Announcer/Sponsorship); Tyler Baker (Ringmaster); Scott
Stewart (Ribbons), Anne Clapper (Photographer); Concessions (David
Poormon & Bee Skep Café).

Thanks to our Photographer Anne Clapper (Auburn) who did a
wonderful job of capturing the special moments of a show – Anne you’re
the best!

The Humane Society of Wayne County was on our show grounds for
the series with adoptable kittens/cats/dogs. At our September 23rd show,
the owners of Cheval presented Fran and her canine Jack (Flat Coat
Retriever Mix) a check for care of homeless animals. At the Sept show,
exhibitors & spectators donated cash to the society which was presented
as well. If you are interested in adopting a homeless animal and/or
making a donation, please visit their website
www.hswaynepets.org/index.htm.

Our wonderful Sponsors were: Intercept Security, Blue Seal
Feed, Anne Clapper, Fox Meadow Farm, Muriel
Albright, Karen Gerrish, Horse Bits Magazine,
Hunting Horn Tack Shop, Marion Garage Doors, Pamela’s
Portraits and Smith Brothers Texas.

Our Famous Dog Costume Class at the Sept Show had 9 pooches strutting
their tails in the ring……. Each one pranced (or ran) into the ring,
checked out the competition and finally settled down for the judge to
make her decision – one Jack Russell had a mini saddle on – everyone won
a blue ribbon and dog treats. I personally showed Marcadia Valley Farm’s
Jack Russell *Chester*. Chester normally shows in his birthday suit but
since he has returned from the Madri Gras he wanted to show off his
beads! That class was a lot of fun, please enjoy the group shot that was
taken by our photographer (she sure has a lot of patience), trying to
get humans/pooches to listen at once!

Anyway, this year’s show series was wonderful, we all had a great time,
great weather and are already planning for 2008. Listen up, email
chevalstables@yahoo.com or
call 585-520-5088 to place your name on our mailing list. We will see
you in center-ring!
